Mobile Recording

How do you record your live gig....?

Want to record in your favourite space or somewhere you can relax...??

Sydney Sound offers a service package to record your show or sets up at your location.

For recording sessions, overdubbing and multi tracking on location we can setup up to 32 channels input and output along with  boutique pre amps and mics.... See here...  Editing is no problem, the system is Pro Tools TDM based (with Apogee AD/DA) allowing for any edit, pre mixing and punch in facilities you would find in any recording studio. All the cabling is manufactured by Sydney Sound Cables custom.

For live performance recording, we have a kick arse set of “kit” that assures quality results. The recorded tracks offer flexibility in post mixing for video sound, or just for listening pleasure. We can integrate with any venue or performance area and style.

Your performance is recorded through individual microphone pre-amplifiers to a multi channel digital system.

All the usual stage channels are recorded along with audience microphones to capture the “live” feel. Extra spot microphones can be used to enhance the recording and to create more separation from the venues sound re-enforcement microphones.

To integrate with the performance sound system (if there is one), active “splitters” are utilised providing a recording signal path that is stand alone from other functions. The splitters used share circuitry with top end equipment like Midas digital consoles and high end audio gear using OEP microphone transformers. The recording system is setup for 32 channels of 24 bit audio and is rack mounted. Requiring less than an hours setup time including extra microphone placement, the system can be ready for sound checking. Listen to some non commercial examples here...

Once the performance is finished and “in the can”, the sound files can either be delivered for post mixing or can be mixed as an included service.

Recordings are generally balanced on an analogue console with the addition of several classic dynamics processors and if required, FX and editing. The “Tape machine” is a Pro Tools TDM system so editing and stem mix recall easy. 32 channels of Apogee AD / DA conversion is used.

The finished product can be tailored for listening just as audio or for synchronising with video footage.

The equipment used includes very important parts like good microphones, good microphone cables, multi channel audio cables, patching cables, stands, good metering and monitoring on headphones or studio monitors. These ingredients make for a reliable system.

Prices do vary depending on the show details, starting from around $200 AU.
